Jewellery Information
All of my jewellery is made using Sterling Silver, along with carefully sourced findings, beads and materials from within the UK.
Each piece is designed to be durable, wearable and something you can enjoy every day.
Yes, every piece is designed and created by me.
From sourcing shells on local beaches to casting them into silver, and finishing each piece by hand, it’s a deeply personal process.
Slight variations can occur, which is all part of what makes each piece feel unique and special.
All of my jewellery is designed and made by me in my Seaside Studio in Torcross, South Devon. It's close to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe - all places that help shape and inspire my work.
My studio is a small, peaceful space just moments from the Slapton Sands coastline and a stone's through from Slapton Ley Nature Reserve.
I feel so lucky to be able to create each piece surrounded by the sounds of the sea and the beauty of the natural environment that inspires my work.
You can read more about the Seaside Studio here.
Brand Information
I’m Helen, and I'm the jeweller, designer and maker behind every Helen Butler Designs piece.
I’ve been creating jewellery for over 20 years, after first discovering silversmithing while living in Devon with my young children. What started as a course during a time of change in my life quickly became a passion and a new path.
Before jewellery, I worked in catering and spent time living and working in different places (like Chamonix in the French Alps), but I’ve always been drawn to making things - from sewing clothes as a child to designing and creating jewellery today.
You can read my full story and learn all about my background here.
My jewellery is deeply inspired by the South Devon coastline - the beaches, the sea, and the small details you find when you slow down and really look.
Many of my pieces begin as real objects I’ve found along the shore - shells, textures and natural forms - each one carrying its own quiet story.
These are then cast into silver and transformed into something you can wear and keep. It’s about capturing those moments of discovery and turning them into something lasting.
You can read more about what inspires me in my Seaside Blog.
Because many of my designs begin with real, natural finds, no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
Even when cast in silver, each piece carries the original textures and character of the shell or form it came from, making it something personal and individual to you.
Many of my pieces naturally carry meaning, often inspired by the sea and the stories behind each find. For example, shells can represent resilience, change or calm, while shapes like spirals or starfish often symbolise growth, renewal and connection.
But most importantly, I love that each piece can take on its own meaning for the person wearing it, connecting them in their own special way to a place, a feeling, a moment or a memory.
