Helen Butler Designs is a collection of handcrafted silver jewellery inspired by the South Devon coastline, natural forms and the quiet beauty found along the shore and the natural environments behind it.
Each piece is designed and made by Helen in her Seaside Studio in Torcross, using solid silver and carefully sourced materials from within the UK.
Inspired by Place
Helen’s work begins with her surroundings.
From the beaches of Torcross and Slapton Sands, and places like Dartmouth, Salcombe and Bantham, to the wider South Devon coastline and countryside, each piece reflects the textures, shapes and subtle details found in nature. Shells collected from local shores are carefully cast into silver, preserving their original form while giving them lasting weight and meaning.
This connection to place is at the heart of every design - creating jewellery that feels grounded, personal and quietly distinctive.
Designed to Be Worn
Helen’s jewellery is created with everyday wear in mind.
Each piece is designed to be simple, elegant and easy to live in - whether layered with other favourites or worn alone. Durability is a key part of the process, with solid silver charms, and strong cords and quality chains chosen so pieces can be worn daily, often without needing to be removed.
The result is jewellery that becomes part of your routine, not something saved only for special occasions.
Crafted by Hand
Every piece is designed and made by Helen herself.
From initial design through to finishing, each stage of the process is completed by hand. Silver is carefully shaped, soldered and finished to achieve a slightly softer, more organic look - often with a purposely subtle matte quality that absorbs light rather than reflecting it.
This hands-on approach ensures consistency, quality and a direct connection between maker, piece and place.
